Hybrid Job: This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

Make a Difference

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy, the Senior Advisor, Strategy & Planning develops and supports managing Toronto Community Housing’s strategic plan, policy management framework, and other key initiatives that further Toronto Community Housing’s strategic goals in a manner that supports TCHC's tenant-focused culture. They are responsible for providing day-to-day direction and oversight of the Business Coordinators and for identifying emerging challenges and opportunities in fulfilling the unit’s operational and strategic goals, and proposing solutions to senior management and the executive team. The work environment is fast-paced and collegial, and the Senior Advisor is expected to be solution-focused and collaborative, and to always exercise sound judgment.

What You’ll Do

Strategy and business planning:

Provide support for managing the corporate strategic planning process that supports the objectives and strategic positioning of Toronto Community Housing in alignment with the vision, mission and values Plan, co-ordinate, communicate, monitor, and report on the implementation of strategic initiatives, consulting with teams across business units as appropriate Ensure initiatives are delivered in accordance with internal, shareholder, or other requirements Develop, project manage and support review of organizational performance against the strategic plan Monitor, track, and verify all reporting requirements Review and analyze performance measurement results and progress updates on divisional work Develop recommendations to improve business processes Advise on improvements of performance measures and reporting as appropriate Project manage special projects of strategic value to the corporation, including day-to-day execution, ensuring they are completed on time and to the required quality standard

Policy Management Framework Administration

Maintain TCHC’s centralized policy repository Manage enterprise prioritization of policies for review to ensure they remain relevant and effective Identify emerging internal policy issues, and management of risk associated with the Policy portfolio Project manage and oversee the work of staff to support the organization to develop and implement new and revise existing policies as necessary Consult with relevant internal and external stakeholders on the development of new and review of existing policies Where the Strategy unit is the policy owner or subject matter expert, supervise staff who plan, co-ordinate, communicate and monitor the implementation of policies, protocols and procedures. Collaborate with Strategic Communications and Learning & Organizational Development to develop an implementation plan for newly developed policies

Develop reports, papers, briefing notes, and presentations for internal use and to communicate to stakeholders:

Create reports for the executive leadership team and Board of Directors on matters including policy, strategic planning, performance measures, evaluation, strategic initiatives and other areas and provides advice and expertise to the Strategy unit to improve its Board reporting Write reports for the board as required

Provide Supervisory Support To Business Coordinators

Hire, mentor and supervise the staff team of Business Coordinators Oversee the work of the Business Coordinators to implement the monthly review of organizational performance: review and analyze performance measurement results and progress updates on divisional work

What You’ll Need

Post-secondary education in Business Administration or other relevant field (e.g. Public Policy, Commerce, Law, Communications, Social Sciences) A graduate degree in business administration or other relevant field is preferred (e.g. Public Policy, Commerce, Law, Communications, Social Sciences) 5-7 years of experience (work or co-op) in a large public corporate environment in one or more of the following areas: policy analysis or development, performance measurement systems, strategic planning, creation and monitoring of accountability systems Formal or informal experience supervising or mentoring staff, including through project management of complex projects. Proficiency with computerized business applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software applications Proven ability to analyze and interpret data, prepare reports and develop recommendations Proven ability to interact effectively with and engage a variety of stakeholders including: staff, tenants, business partners and community groups Excellent project management, conflict resolution and organizational skills Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills Working knowledge of Toronto Community Housing’s operations, policies and procedures, as well as relevant legislation and an understanding of the community housing and social service sector
