About the role

Job Description

Manager, Epic Connect is a key leadership role responsible for the day to day business, relationship, and operational management of Mackenzie Health’s Epic Connect program. Reporting to the Director, Projects & Partnerships, this role serves as the primary point of contact for Connect sites, while also supporting the strategic growth, financial stewardship, and accreditation readiness of the program.

Manager, Epic Connect will engage both existing Connect partners and prospective organizations, ensuring strong relationships, clear governance, operational accountability, and alignment with Mackenzie Health’s strategic priorities. This role balances external partnership management with internal coordination across Digital Health, clinical leaders, finance, and operations.

Primary Responsibilities

Ongoing Relationship & Governance

Serve as the primary liaison for all Epic Connect sites, maintaining regular touchpoints with site leadership, committees, and designated liaisons Stay abreast of Epic Community Connect developments and emerging best practices Maintain strong awareness of each partner organization’s strategic priorities, key initiatives, and operational drivers Understand and support Connect site governance structures, including leadership engagement and escalation pathways

Operational Oversight & Performance

Ensure training and access controls align with the guiding principle of “no training, no access” across all Connect sites Support Connect site leaders in monitoring agreed‑upon corporate dashboards and performance indicators Track and report Epic‑related operational metrics (i.e. Incidents opened and resolved, Change requests, training and education activity, etc.) Leverage Epic Signal and other analytics tools, where appropriate, to provide insights on clinical and administrative performance

Communications & Engagement

Develop and coordinate Executive briefing materials, dashboards, and review packages as required Lead development of a Mackenzie Health–hosted Epic Connect newsletter to communicate: Global and upgrade‑related Epic changes Functionality enhancements requiring awareness or action Best practices, learning opportunities, and upcoming events Coordinate and distribute Connect‑specific communications as appropriate

Customer Experience & Continuous Improvement

Conduct on‑site visits, as required, to strengthen relationships and align Connect roadmaps with partner priorities Lead the annual Epic Connect site customer satisfaction survey Ensure completion, analyze results, and develop action plans in partnership with internal and external stakeholders

Financial & Administrative Oversight

Manage administrative and financial reconciliation for each Connect site, including: Invoicing Payment tracking Work closely with Finance to ensure transparency, accuracy, and sustainability of the Connect financial model

Program Strategy & Execution

Support execution of the Epic Connect strategy and operating model including oversight of direct reports Contribute to the development and maintenance of the Epic Connect implementation playbook Provide oversight and coordination across all Epic Connect implementation and expansion projects

Relationship & Partnership Management

Build and sustain strong relationships with Connect site executives, clinical leaders, and operational liaisons Support engagement with potential new Connect partners, including early discussions, readiness assessments, and coordination with internal stakeholders

Accreditation & Readiness

Support maintenance of Epic Connect accreditation requirements (i.e. Honour Roll, Epic Accreditation, etc.) Track and oversee key readiness indicators across all Connect sites, including: User login readiness (minimum 80% of sites enabled for immediate access) Provider personalization completion (minimum 80% of Connect providers personalized)

Project Management & Delivery Responsibilities

Provide end‑to‑end project management oversight for Epic Connect initiatives, including onboarding of new Connect sites, enhancements for existing partners, and operational improvement initiatives Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, milestones, and dependencies for all Epic Connect–related projects in collaboration with Digital Health, clinical, operational, and external stakeholders Coordinate cross‑functional teams (e.g., Digital Health, Clinical Informatics, Training, Finance, Privacy, Security) to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with enterprise standards Serve as the single point of coordination between Mackenzie Health project teams and Connect site counterparts during planning, implementation, go‑live, and post‑go‑live phases Monitor project risks, issues, and interdependencies; proactively escalate to the Director, Projects & Partnerships and senior leaders as required Support development and execution of change management and communication plans related to Epic Connect implementations and enhancements Track project progress and outcomes using agreed‑upon metrics and dashboards; prepare status reports and executive updates as required Ensure Epic Connect projects adhere to approved governance, accreditation requirements, policies, and operational standards Support lessons learned reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of the Epic Connect implementation playbook Align project delivery with broader organizational priorities, capacity constraints, and strategic roadmaps

What must you have?

Undergraduate Degree in business administration, health administration, health/clinical informatics or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum 3-5 years experience working in a health care environment required. Minimum of 5 years of project management experience required. Minimum 5 years progressive leadership experience in an acute healthcare setting required.

What else do you bring?

Master’s Degree or related field preferred. Project Management Professional (PMP) Designate is an asset. Demonstrated experience in implementing and improving the digital maturity at a healthcare facility. Creative analytical and strategic thinker with strong project management, workflow, problem solving and implementation skills. Expert knowledge of project management frameworks and methodologies Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills with exceptional verbal, written communication and conflict management skills with strong initiative to achieve high standards of service and performance. Professionalism, attention to detail and focused customer service ethic Ability to handle and prioritize multiple demands concurrently. Results driven; an ability to focus on results and outcomes, while managing business/organizational risk. Experience leading development teams creating multi-system solutions, system integration decision support and/or informatics solution development in a healthcare setting. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment. Superior experience with Microsoft Office applications including Project and Visio Time management and organizational abilities including demonstrated ability to problem solve, prioritize a varied workload and function in a changing and stressful work environment. Leadership abilities including the abilities to teach, direct and motivate staff. Strong systems thinking and focus. Strong research skills using the Internet and other resources. Proven attendance record. Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all. Ability to perform the essential duties of the job. Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others.
