About the role
Location: Hay River, Diamond Jenness Secondary School
Divisional Region: The South Slave Divisional Education Council is looking for a positive and committed leader and educator, capable and willing to work collaboratively and embrace the implementation of three key priorities in the South Slave schools and classrooms: literacy, numeracy and social responsibility.
Position
Principal (1.0 FTE) - term for the 2024/25 school year
Specialization: Administration
Start date - August 25th, 2026 - June 30th, 2027
Criteria
B. Ed and graduate degree in Education
Minimum 3 Years Of Experience In Administration Or Equivalencies
Educational experience in the North is an asset
Compensation and Salary: Salary dependent on qualifications - ranging from $91,000 to $147,000 per year plus a very attractive benefits package including a Northern Allowance of approx. $5,668 and relocation expenses and an administrative stipend

The South Slave Divisional Education Council (SSDEC) is the organizational entity responsible for the administration of public schools within the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, Canada. Its responsibility includes all schools within the five communities of the South Slave (with the exception of École Boréale in Hay River). Specifically, it is responsible for schools in the communities of Fort Resolution, Fort Smith, K'atl'odeche First Nation, Hay River, and Lutselk'e.
