About the role

LE Construction & Maintenance (LECM) Asphalt Supervisor – Working Foreman Paving & Concrete | Calgary, AB | $42–$45/hr | Company Truck + Fuel Card

The Job We're looking for a hands-on Asphalt Supervisor to run our paving and concrete crews through the season. This is a working foreman role — you're on the tools, on the machine, and running the site. Not a clipboard job. You'll take jobs from mobilization to sign-off: line up the crew, the equipment, and the hot mix, keep the site moving, and make sure the finished product is right before we leave. A company truck and fuel card come with the position. Do good work through the season and there's a real path to year-round employment supervising snow & ice through the winter. Who We Are (Read This Before You Apply) We're not a highway paving outfit and we don't pretend to be. LECM is a Calgary property maintenance company — our paving division does medium-sized commercial work: parking lots, mill & fills, overlays, patching, crack sealing, grading, catch basins, curbs, and flatwork. Maintenance-driven asphalt and concrete that keeps our clients' properties in shape. If you've only ever run a 500-tonne-a-day highway crew and that's what you're after, this isn't your job. If you know how to run a tight crew on a commercial lot, hit your compaction, get the water shedding the right way, and finish clean — keep reading. What You'll Do Run the crew. Set the pace and the standard on every site — safety, quality, production. Run the iron. You're on the paver, roller, skid steer, or loader alongside the crew, not watching from the truck. Run the day. Line up crew assignments, tools, equipment, and hot mix deliveries so nobody's standing around waiting. Sequence the work. Plan mill & fills, overlays, patching, crack sealing, grading, and drainage jobs to hit timelines and budgets. Talk to people. Coordinate with our project managers, suppliers, and clients — confirm quantities, schedule work, keep everyone in the loop. Keep it safe. Toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and proper traffic control on every site. We're COR-certified and we take it seriously. Own the quality. Grade, compaction, joints, water-shedding, finish. You check it before the job gets signed off. Look after the equipment. Daily inspections, basic maintenance checks, report problems before they become breakdowns. Do the paperwork. Daily production logs, timesheets, site photos, material tracking. It's not much, but it has to be done. What You Need 5+ years in asphalt and paving, with time as a lead hand or supervisor. Real seat time on pavers, rollers, skid steers, and loaders — you'll be asked which machines you've run. Crew leadership — you can direct, train, and keep a crew moving without babysitting or blowing up. Organization — juggling crews, equipment, and material deliveries across more than one site at a time. Solid asphalt knowledge — mill & fill, overlays, patching, crack sealing and sealcoating, grading, drainage correction. Class 5 licence with a clean abstract (Class 3 is an asset). You're driving our truck. Safety knowledge — traffic control, COR / OH&S requirements. Show up. Reliable, on time, sober, and paying attention to detail. Nice to Have Concrete experience — curbs, sidewalks, flatwork. Commercial or municipal paving background. Snow & ice experience — this is your ticket to year-round work with us. Mechanical aptitude for equipment checks and troubleshooting. Tickets — First Aid, WHMIS, Traffic Control, Ground Disturbance. Pay & Schedule Wage: $42–$45/hr based on experience and performance. Truck: Company LECM truck with fuel card. Schedule: Full-time seasonal, spring through fall. Long daylight hours during peak paving season — weather runs the show. Winter: Strong potential for year-round employment through snow & ice supervision. How to Apply – Answer These 5 Questions We get a lot of applications from people who've never touched a paver. To save everyone's time, put the answers to these five questions right in your application. Applications that skip them won't be considered. How many years have you run a paver and a roller, and which makes/models have you operated? What's the biggest crew you've supervised, and what kind of work were they doing? Tell us about one commercial lot or mill & fill job you ran — what went well and what went sideways. What class of licence do you hold, and is your abstract clean? (You'll be asked to provide it.) When can you start, and are you interested in winter snow & ice work? Send your application to info@lecm.ca with "Asphalt Supervisor" in the subject line. Short and honest beats long and polished.
