A leading packaging manufacturer is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement Manager to lead their quality systems while driving operational excellence across their packaging manufacturing facility.

Compensation

$120,000 base salary, plus bonus and benefits.

The Opportunity

This is an outstanding opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives on improving processes, developing people, and building a culture where quality and continuous improvement are part of everything we do. You’ll work closely with Production, Engineering, Operations, Sales, and Supply Chain to ensure their products consistently exceed customer expectations while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase profitability.

Position Description

Lead the Quality Assurance department and foster a culture of quality throughout the organization. Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) that meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements. Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other improvement methodologies. Analyze production data, quality metrics, and customer feedback to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Lead root cause investigations and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Establish and monitor KPIs related to quality, waste reduction, productivity, customer complaints, and process capability. Facilitate internal audits, customer audits, and third-party certification audits. Partner with Operations and Engineering to improve manufacturing processes, product consistency, and overall equipment effectiveness. Reduce scrap, rework, and production defects through data-driven decision-making. Develop standardized work instructions and quality procedures. Coach, mentor, and develop quality personnel while providing quality training across the organization. Ensure compliance with all food safety, regulatory, customer, and industry standards where applicable. Support new product launches by ensuring robust quality planning and validation processes. Collaborate with suppliers to improve incoming material quality and supplier performance.

Qualifications

5-10 years of progressive Quality Assurance Leadership experience within packaging, printing, labels, folding cartons, flexible packaging, corrugated, or related manufacturing. Proven success leading Continuous Improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and process improvement methodologies. Experience with Six Sigma tools and statistical problem-solving techniques. Thorough understanding of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 and other relevant quality standards). Experience conducting root cause analysis using methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis, and FMEA. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production and quality data. Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development abilities. Outstanding communication and cross-functional collaboration skills. Strong organizational and project management capabilities. Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Post-secondary education in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related discipline is preferred. ASQ, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is considered a strong asset.
