Land Acquisition Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced Land Acquisition Specialist to oversee property acquisition activities for major infrastructure and transportation projects.
Position Summary The successful Land Acquisition Specialist will bring strong negotiation expertise, experience managing complex real estate transactions, and the ability to build productive relationships with landowners, public agencies, and other stakeholders while delivering land acquisition solutions that support project objectives. The Land Acquisition Specialist plays an integral role in the development and delivery of complex infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Manage property acquisition activities, including easements, permits, and land access agreements Lead negotiations with landowners, government agencies, utilities, and other stakeholders Coordinate property investigations, due diligence, and land-related technical activities Review project plans to identify land requirements, risks, and mitigation measures Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support project planning and delivery Develop and implement acquisition strategies that align with project requirements and regulatory standards Prepare reports, cost estimates, business cases, and acquisition documentation Track acquisition progress, monitor budgets, and maintain project records Prepare reports, analysis, and presentations within project agreements and designs Provide support and guidance on complex acquisition and compensation matters Act as a liaison between clients, contractors, team members and project developers
Minimum Qualifications: Must be English & French speaking Must be willing to work on-site and possess a valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as required (may require travel to Ottawa and Montreal) Bachelor’s degree in Real Estate, Business Administration, Business, Urban Planning or related field Minimum of 5 years of experience with land acquisition and real estate services for large-scale projects Proven experience in land acquisition, including negotiations, property research, stakeholder consultation, and land access activities Knowledge of project coordination, property valuation, cost estimation, and compensation practices Strong knowledge of land acquisition practices, property rights, and compensation principles. Demonstrated success negotiating agreements and building productive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional reports and present information effectively. Experience in client facing projects and successful project execution Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities and meet project deadlines Professional certification from one or more of the following organizations: International Right of Way Association (IRWA) Ordre des Évaluateurs Agréés du Québec (OEAQ) Appraisal Institute of Canada (AIC)
