The Park spans the Southeast corner of Alberta and the Southwest corner of Saskatchewan. The unique landscape of the area contrasts the surrounding prairie landscapes, making it an exciting destination for winter recreation opportunities.The Ski Resort is located on the Alberta side of the park, 10 minutes from the town site of Elkwater, AB and 40 min from Medicine Hat, AB. For more information about Hidden Valley Ski Resort, visit https://albertaparks.ca/hiddenvalley.Role Responsibilities The Snow School Supervisor at Hidden Valley Ski Resort plays a pivotal leadership role within the Snow School team. The Supervisor ensures the smooth, professional operation of all Snow School activities and fosters a positive, fun, and engaging environment for staff and guests.Snow School Supervisor duties include, but are not limited to:•    Providing ski and/or snowboard lessons to guests of all ages, including school groups•    Delivering consistent, high-quality guest experiences.•    Ensuring departmental operating procedures and standards are followed.•    Supervising staff, including scheduling, time sheet management, work planning, and training.•    Ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.•    Effectively addressing and resolving customer concerns.•    Assisting with snow and ice removal from walkways using appropriate equipment.•    Assisting in set-up and cleanup of ski hill facilities.•    Supporting ongoing staff development in teaching techniques and skill progression.•    Maintaining a strong working knowledge of CSIA/CASI teaching methodologies.•    Participating in and following Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) policies and procedures.This position is primarily outdoors in variable winter conditions and requires strong physical stamina. We encourage you to have an in depth understanding of the competencies that are required for this opportunity and to be prepared to demonstrate them during the recruitment process.How Competencies will apply to this role:Agility: Ability to anticipate, assess, and readily adapt to changing priorities, maintain resilience in times of uncertainty and effectively work in a changing environment.Build Collaborative Environments: Leads and contributes to the conditions and environments that allow people to work collaboratively and productively to achieve outcomes.Systems Thinking: Understands how the work done is part of a larger integrated environment.  Looks beyond own area and considers how own work impacts the work and success of others.Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to assess options and implications in new ways to achieve outcomes and solutions.Develop Self and Others: A commitment to learning and the desire to invest in the development of the capability of yourself and others.Qualifications Required: •    High School diploma and two years of related experience in teaching, coaching or working with youth. •    Minimum Level 2 CSIA (Ski Instructor Certification) or CASI (Snowboard Instructor Certification) or equivalent.Additional Requirements to be successful in the role:•    Minimum one year of supervisory experience. •    Valid Class 5 Driver’s License (or equivalent) and 3-year Driver’s Abstract.•    Prior to hire, recognized current Intermediate Standard First Aid and CPR Level “C”/AED Certificates are needed, and must be maintained as current for the entire period of hire by the employee.Additional Assets to be successful in the role:•    Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.•    Level 3 CASI with trainer certification.•    Knowledge of park facilities/services, especially Hidden Valley Ski Resort.•    Sound knowledge of ski industry practice within a snow school environment.Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.Notes Terms of employment: •    Shifts are 8 hours a day, up to 40 hours a week.•    Candidates must be willing to work weekends and holidays, varying start dates from November 2026, until March 2027, pending end of ski season and operational needs. •    Various low-cost housing options are available for rent in Elkwater.•    There is no public transportation to the Ski Resort, you must have reliable transportation to and from work. The Ski Resort is located about 10 minutes from Elkwater and about 40 minutes from Medicine Hat.Any initial costs associated with obtaining required documents/checks as noted will be the responsibility of the candidate. However, some reimbursements may occur. Interview travel expenses will not be reimbursed.
